Chicago
Haven't written on here for awhile - been to busy with work! Luckily work involves traveling (amongst other things) which means over a dozen trips last year including three trips to Chicago! Chicago is gorgeous and one of my favorite US cities to visit - the architecture, the food, the people - all awesome. Plus its the site of one of my favorite books Devil in the White City (architecture + true crime = the best). So far I've only visited in the winter but even with the freezing temperatures I can't get enough. I usually stay at the Hilton on Michigan Ave - the views are fantastic and makes walking to all the best spots really easy.
I've been lucky enough to eat some incredible meals in Chicago. The standouts being Cindy's (gorgeous views + excellent rose), The Purple Pig (no pics - too busy eating) and Little Goat Diner (the Chop Chae is fantastic). Plus there's always Goddess and The Baker - a cute cafe near the hotel I stay at that has delicious food for breakfast and lunch.
Back in college, I always loved learning about Frank Lloyd Wright as his style was so distinctive and different. Being able to check out his work at various stages of his career in Chicago has been incredible - architecture nerd heaven. So far, I've checked out FLW's home and studio, the Robie House (my favorite - would happily live there today) and The Rookery.
Cannot wait to go back to the Windy city - will be there in less than a month!
